THE NEW GOTHIC
2015, Design Academy Eindhoven
The Gothic subculture is existing for more than 25 years, hybridizing with other music genres and clothing styles, but without loosing its identity.
Nowadays, the gap between high and low culture is becoming wider. There is no middle anymore, but only extremes. We believe that the Gothic subculture will also be affected by this change.
In the future, we imagined that it will evolve into two new groups living alongsides eachother, a low-end and a high-end one.
Namely « The Majestic Goth» and « The Minimalistic Goth».
Realisation of a research book about gothic subculture, and photo shooting illustrating our vision of the «new gothic».
